Wealth is Spiritual
By Peter Salemi
Wealth is spiritual-its essence is not materialistic which many been taught their whole life; this is one of those erroneous things most have bought into. This is one of those lies that most believe and protect because of where most people got it from. Most believe that thinking about wealth is too materialistic; but the reality is-working hard for a little bit of money is way more materialistic than starting a business that serves people, and makes a great impact into people’s lives!
What is the spiritual component of wealth? To please God by spreading his Kingdom culture and help and serve people. Solomon asked for wisdom, why? So he could serve God’s people. The Bible says, “Give therefore thy servant an understanding heart to judge thy people, that I may discern between good and bad: for who is able to judge this thy so great a people?...And the speech pleased the Lord, that Solomon had asked this thing.” (1 Kings 3:9-10). Solomon asked for Wisdom on How to be wealthy so Israel would know it and be productive.
Wealth also produces responsibility; this is essential for character development as we see in the parable of the talents. The most irresponsible servant who did nothing with the master’s wealth was cast, “…into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.” (Matthew 25:30). The one who was the most responsible with the Masters’ wealth received double, “Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.” (Matthew 25:21).
Different Principles of Wealth
The concept of wealth being spiritual can be found in various ways in the Bible.
Here are a few examples:
1. Abundance and Gratitude: The Bible emphasizes the idea that true wealth comes from an abundance mindset and gratitude for what one already has. In this view, wealth is not solely about material possessions but also encompasses emotional, mental, and spiritual richness. (Prov 22:9; 1 Thess 5:18; Psalm 140:13).
2. Inner Fulfillment: Another perspective that wealth is spiritual is when it leads to inner fulfillment and a sense of purpose or alignment. Spiritual wealth arises from living a life of meaning and contribution. (Eccl 5:3; Prov 23:7).
3. Connection to the Divine: Wealth is seen as spiritual when it is used in alignment with divine principles or for the betterment of oneself and others. This might involve acts of charity, generosity, or service to the community. (Lev 19:18; 1 Kings 3:9-10; Isa 48:17).
4. Harmony and Balance: The Bible emphasizes the importance of balance and harmony in all aspects of life, including finances. Wealth is spiritual when it is acquired and managed in ways that promote balance, sustainability, and harmony with the natural world. (Eccl 5:19; 2:26; Isa 26:3; 48:18, 22).
5. Transformation and Growth: From a Biblical spiritual perspective, wealth can also be seen as a tool for personal transformation and growth. When individuals use their resources to invest in their own development or to uplift others, they are enriching themselves spiritually as well as materially. (Eccl 10:19; Matthew 25:14-30; Prov 22:9).
Overall, the idea that wealth is spiritual suggests that there is more to prosperity than just material accumulation. It encompasses a broader understanding of abundance, fulfillment, connection, and growth that extends beyond the purely material realm. So wealth is spiritual in nature and much less materialistic! Unfortunately today most people choose mental/spiritual laziness and run their bodies into the ground and still do not achieve wealth. The reason? Wealth is spiritual, not physical!
4 Levels of Value/Achievement
There are 4 levels of value/achievement that God has designed and in these 4 levels-the higher you go the more spiritual is it! And the spiritual levels produce more abundance than the lower levels.
We are made in the “image of God,” and it is ingrained in us to be creators (God put his creative aspect in all of us); and when we follow his design to create (and there are four levels of value in creating), we can see where the greater value is in creating-and it is in the spiritual level. The more spiritual we are in creating the more we can achieve success in this life and it will translate over into the Kingdom of God.
Below is the chart of Value and achievement:
Four Levels of Value (Most Valuable listed first to last) |
||
Creation involves: |
Spiritual/Material Value |
Payment |
1) Imagination (Spiritual) |
Creativity comes from the Mind. Inventions-The ability to see in the mind an outcome or picture it before it’s created. |
Unlimited. Apple, Microsoft, Tesla, Amazon etc.… |
2) Communication (Spiritual) |
Communication comes from the mouth that speaks your thoughts-the mind. |
100 K –Millions of dollars. Singers, Podcasters, Authors. J.K Rowling, Taylor Swift, Oprah, Joe Rogan etc.… |
Unlimited Wealth begins above in levels 1&2. Limited wealth is below in Levels 3&4 |
||
3) Unification (Spiritual/Physical limited) |
Management skills. Lead, coordinate, and oversee tasks, projects, teams, or organizations to achieve desired goals and objectives.
|
40 K-250 K Store managers. Bank Managers. Project Managers. Sales and Marketing Managers. |
4) Implementation (Physical/Spiritual limited) |
Labor. Limited muscle, used over time which is limited.
Muscles are a physical resource not spiritual, and time is Limited. People are seeking to produce an unlimited wealth but the Result is not possible-these resources are limited so one receives a limited amount of abundance. |
Minimum wage-80k. Mechanics, plumbers, carpenters general laborers. |
Implementing all 4 levels of value or achievement will guarantee success. |
Do we find this in the Bible? Absolutely!
In Genesis the first chapter God is creating man and he says, “And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness:” (Gen 1:26). First we see “communication” “God said.” Then we see the “Imagination” “our Image”-To create man after his perfection. We also see “unification” “Let US make man” Then we see implementation, “So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.” (Gen 1:27; 2:7).
Here is another example, the creation of the Tower of Babel in Genesis 11. Be it for good or evil, following these 4 levels of value/achievement work because these principles are universal. Unfortunately man channels these good things for evil and not good for the most part as in this historical account of the Tower of Babel.
Genesis 11 says, “And the LORD said, Behold, the people is one, and they have all one language; and this they begin to do: and now nothing will be restrained from them, which they have imagined to do.” (v.6).
Notice:
· The “People is one” (Unification) “Go to, let us make brick, and burn them thoroughly” (Gen 11:3).
· They all have “one Language” (Communication) “the whole earth was of one language, and of one speech” (v.1) “And they said one to another” (v.3)
· “This they begin to do” (Implementation) “And the LORD came down to see the city and the tower, which the children of men builded.” (v.5)
· “Which they have imagined to do” (Imagination) “And they said, Go to, let us build us a city and a tower, whose top may reach unto heaven; and let us make us a name…” (v.4).
These 4 levels when applied to any area of your life, in Business, job etc.…will guarantee success. God said, “and now nothing will be restrained from them,” (Gen 11:6). God knows that success is unlimited when implementing these 4 levels of value! In this case since men were doing it for evil God had to intervene and “confound their language, that they may not understand one another’s speech.” (v.7). This is what Christ was speaking of when he said, “For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, [using the 4 levels of value] and lose his own soul?” (Matthew 16:26). This is why evil people prosper in this world whether they know they are applying God’s principles or not! However, they “lose” their “own soul” Their intention was not to please God, but is in it for themselves and their own selfish reasons like the people who built the tower of Babel (see Psalms 73:11-12). But in the end, either their own wickedness or God intervening will bring their works to nothing.
Wealth therefore is more spiritual than material. The higher the spiritual level, the more abundant one becomes. This does not mean that you abandon Implementation or Unification; no these are needed, (businesses hire people for these positions); but if you want to achieve great success, then one must elevate themselves into the higher spiritual levels of communication and Imagination. If one feels that they want to achieve this high level, then one must become spiritual to reach these heights. And isn’t this the teaching of scripture to be “spiritual” “and to desire that ye might be filled with the knowledge of his will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding;” (Col 1:9)? Christians must realize that the potential in them is unlimited! The servant who made the most talents was the one who was the most spiritual and entered the Kingdom. Let us therefore achieve as much wealth as we can to prove to God just how responsible and spiritual we are! Like Jesus, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Solomon, David etc...All were wealthy all were spiritual! The material things are just icing on the cake that God wants us to enjoy, “And also that every man should eat and drink, and enjoy the good of all his labour, it is the gift of God...Every man also to whom God hath given riches and wealth, and hath given him power to eat thereof, and to take his portion, and to rejoice in his labour; this is the gift of God.” (Eccl 3:13; 5:19) The true wealth is in the spirit!
