The local churches meet for services each Sabbath (Saturday) in the morning or early afternoon. Some local churches meet in their own buildings. Many meet in rented facilities and some fellowship groups (smaller numbers) meet in the home of a local member. The church also worships on God’s 7 Holy Days beginning with the Days of Unleavened Bread in the Spring and culminating with the Feast of Tabernacles in the Fall. Refer to our Holy Day calendar for specific dates and read our booklet, God’s Seasonal Plan which describes each Holy Day in God’s Plan.

The British-Israel Church of God maintains an "open door" policy and everyone is welcome to attend services without obligation. Visitors are not pressured to become members.

The Church Services---questions and answers:

What are your church services like?

Generally, church services for chartered churches last about 2 hours and consists of the following format:

Song service
Opening prayer
Sermonette
Hymn
Announcements
Hymn or Special Music
Sermon (live from local ministry or  on tape)
Hymn
Closing prayer

In addition, some of the chartered churches offer periodic Bible Studies, Leadership Training and Forums which take place before or after services. In addition the local church may provide a variety of fellowship activities such as potlucks, picnics, special dinners, camping trips, field trips and movie and game nights. Check with the church in your area for further details.

Some smaller Fellowship Groups (not yet a chartered church) and some locations without a regular minister will have a modified format.

How churches are supported?

Churches are supported by their local congregation's tithes. The tithes of the congregation are kept with them and only ten percent of that will go to the main office of the church in Canada for the overall work of God. Festival tithes however will also go to the main office as well for the work of God.
