The Next King of Egypt
by Peter Salemi
Now that Mubarak is gone, Gaddafi under Pressure clinging to power, the Tunisian leader in exile. The people will be looking for an Islamic leader to take over these nations of Mizraim. An Islamic Caliphate is going to take over this region. What will he be like?
Isaiah 19:4 says, "And the Egyptians will I give over into the hand of a cruel lord; and a fierce king shall rule over them, saith the Lord, the LORD of hosts." God tells us an Islamic Leader will take over these countries. What will happen during his reign? What kind of leader will he be? How is God going to deal with him? And how will this leader deal with the United States and its NATO Allies?
In the book of Ezekiel the 29th chapter God shows Ezekiel just that. The new king of Egypt and what he is going to do.
Ezekiel received this revelation, "Son of man, set thy face against Pharaoh king of Egypt, and prophesy against him, and against all Egypt: " (v.2). This chapter is set in the end time for verses 9-16 has never happened in history. Also for the simple fact that this prophecy is Egypt and the House of Israel dealing with each other in an alliance. In Ezekiel's time the House of Israel was in captivity for over 120 years. They were dwelling in Assyria and Persia, and in alliance with no one. The time setting is obvious!
Now this king of Egypt God says, "Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I am against thee, Pharaoh king of Egypt, the great dragon that lieth in the midst of his rivers, which hath said, My river is mine own, and I have made it for myself." (v.3). This new leader that will rise in Egypt God calls a great "dragon" or monster who believes in his great Pride that Egypt is his, showing great arrogance and pride, like we have seen with Saddam Hussein and his reign in Iraq. Ruling over all these lands he believes that he created this Caliphate, when it was God that allowed it to happen. And because of National interest, America and the European allies have always made the mistake of dealing with such leaders which always lead to war. They are going to make this mistake again as we shall see.
Its is going to take God himself to deal with this man at Jesus second coming. The Prophecy goes on to say, "But I will put hooks in thy jaws, and I will cause the fish of thy rivers to stick unto thy scales, and I will bring thee up out of the midst of thy rivers, and all the fish of thy rivers shall stick unto thy scales.
"And I will leave thee thrown into the wilderness, thee and all the fish of thy rivers: thou shalt fall upon the open fields; thou shalt not be brought together, nor gathered: I have given thee for meat to the beasts of the field and to the fowls of the heaven." (vv.4-5). The phrase, " I have given thee for meat to the beasts of the field and to the fowls of the heaven.," is the supper of the Great God at his second coming see, Revelation 19:17-18; Ezekiel 39:17-21. The "fish" that sticks to his "scales" are "especially his soldiers, generals, princes, and great men, to cleave to him, follow him," (Gill's Commentary). The people of his regime which we have seen so often in the Middle East will God himself defeat at his coming.
Verse 6 now sheds light on a lot of events that will take place in the near future, "And all the inhabitants of Egypt shall know that I am the LORD, because they have been a staff of reed to the house of Israel" When do the Egyptians know he is the Lord? At the second coming of Christ. This corresponds to Isaiah 19:17-21.
In Isaiah 19, as the prophecy tells us in verses 17-20 Judah and Egypt, Libya will be occupied by NATO forces. So this alliance between the three countries of America, Israel and Egypt will still stand, and western Interests will be protected, because of the awful state that Egypt, Tunisia, and Libya are in, see Isaiah 19:16. God sends Israel the savior v.20 and delivers them. Its at this time that God deals with the fierce king that will take over Egypt in the future. As Isaiah says, "for they shall cry unto the LORD because of the oppressors." The house of Israel and Judah's troops will be oppressed by this fierce king as we shall see and Jesus the Savior of Israel will rescue them. Then in verse 21 Isaiah says that God will be known to Egypt.
But the alliance that currently stands between the three countries will fail. The United States and Judah will be betrayed. NATO will set up in Egypt and Israel during this crisis, because Egypt will be so helpless. They will move in see Isaiah 19:16-19. At this time of the occupation, NATO will break apart, then this Fierce king will arise and betray America and Israel.
The latter end of Ezekiel 29:6 says, "because they have been a staff of reed to the house of Israel." Verse 7 elaborates even more, "When they [Israel] took hold of thee by thy hand, thou didst break, and rend all their shoulder: and when they leaned upon thee, thou brakest, and madest all their loins to be at a stand." This means "alluding to the reeds on the banks of the Nile, which broke if one leaned upon them (see on Eze_29:4; Isa_36:6). All Israel’s dependence on Egypt proved hurtful instead of beneficial (Isa_30:1-5)." (JFB Commentary). Other Translations say Egypt will be an "unreliable ally." (ISV). Like pretty much all Islamic dictators, they will talk out of both sides of their mouth. Claim to be allies with the west, yet sponsor terrorism and jihad. Already the USA believes the Muslim brotherhood saying they are secular and have no violent intentions against the west. That's not what their spiritual leader has said. They let Iran' ships go through the Suez Canal. When will we learn?
The United States will look to them for support when NATO breaks up, instead they will be betrayed, and Egypt will take the side of the Beast (Assyria), and attack Israelis and American troops. This happens during the time when they occupy Israel and Egypt, Isaiah 19:17-21. Isaiah 7:14, 17-20, says, "Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel [Prophecy of Jesus].
"The LORD shall bring upon thee, and upon thy people, and upon thy father's house, days that have not come, from the day that Ephraim departed from Judah; even the king of Assyria.
"And it shall come to pass in that day, that the LORD shall hiss for the fly that is in the uttermost part of the rivers of Egypt, and for the bee that is in the land of Assyria.
"And they shall come, and shall rest all of them in the desolate valleys, and in the holes of the rocks, and upon all thorns, and upon all bushes.
"In the same day shall the Lord shave with a razor that is hired, namely, by them beyond the river, by the king of Assyria, the head, and the hair of the feet: and it shall also consume the beard." The fly means, "... the army, or the multitude of people. The comparison of a numerous army with “flies” is not uncommon; see Homer’s “Iliad,” B. ii. 469
"The comparison is drawn probably from the “number,” but also is intended to indicate the troublesome character, of the invaders. Perhaps, also, there is an allusion here to the well-known fact that one of the ten plagues of Egypt was caused by numerous swarms of flies; Exo_8:21-24. An army would be brought up from that country as numerous, as troublesome, and as destructive as was that swarm of flies." (Barnes Notes). Egypt has 80 million people and can produce a fair size army, not to mention Libya.
As I have said, NATO will break apart, Britain, America and Judah will go it alone. The beast will form led by Germany (Assyria) move into Judah and lead American, Israelis and British troops into captivity, see Obadiah vv.10-14. Egypt during this time, instead of supporting its American allies will betray them and side with the Beast! This is the "miry clay" phase of the image of Daniel 2, the "potter's clay" phase will come to its end. The potter's clay phase is NATO. (Read our booklet Who, What is the Beast for details).
The International Standard Version puts it in modern terms, "
"Then everyone living in Egypt will know that I am the LORD, because they have been an unreliable ally to the house of Israel...
"When they reached out to you for support, you tore their hands and dislocated all of their shoulders. When they tried to lean on you, they couldn't control their own bowels.'" The USA is taking a big risk being an ally with Egypt. They will be an "unreliable ally" during the reign of this King to come.
The phrase "couldn't control their own bowels" means America cannot control the calamity that was happening to them and Egypt would not help. They will look to Egypt to save them, instead Egypt will "dislocate their soldiers." They will betray them. Joel 3:19 says, "Egypt shall be a desolation, and Edom shall be a desolate wilderness, for the violence against the children of Judah, because they have shed innocent blood in their [Egypt] land." Egypt will side with the Beast power that will rise and attack American troops.
Then in verses 8-11 God says he will make Egypt desolate for 40 years which "did not take place" (p.834 F.F. Bruce International Bible Commentary). Some Commentators try to work a historical event into this but there really is no evidence.
Then God says in verse 12, "I will scatter the Egyptians among the nations, and will disperse them through the countries." What God does to Israel in the end time during the tribulation period, God does to Egypt at the second coming of Jesus. Scatter them so they learn their lesson. Humble themselves, and at the end of 40 years, "...will I gather the Egyptians from the people whither they were scattered:
"And I will bring again the captivity of Egypt, and will cause them to return into the land of Pathros, into the land of their habitation; and they shall be there a base kingdom.
"It shall be the basest of the kingdoms; neither shall it exalt itself any more above the nations: for I will diminish them, that they shall no more rule over the nations. " (vv.13-15). As of now Egypt's the heart of the Arab world, and the leader of that Arab world. This will change, God will humble Egypt as he says he will do Isaiah 19:22. He will "smite" it, then "heal" it. When this happens, the "Highway" of Isaiah will be set up and the alliance between Israel and his enemies will form, and Egypt will be called "his people," because they have converted and obey God.
At this time, " ...it shall be no more the confidence of the house of Israel, which bringeth their iniquity to remembrance, when they shall look after them: but they shall know that I am the Lord GOD." (Ezekiel 29:16). The Contemporary English Version reads, "My own people Israel will never again depend on your nation. In fact, when the Israelites remember what happened to you Egyptians, they will realize how wrong they were to turn to you for help. Then the Israelites will know that I, the LORD God, did these things." In this alliance Israel will know to rely on God and not Egypt. This alliance in the end time will be a lot different than what we see today.
